Hey Deshiboy, imagine you have a list of a thousand students and you need to find one mark in two seconds. [short pause] That's exactly what VLOOKUP does — and it never gets tired.
VLOOKUP का मतलब है Vertical Lookup — यानी एक table में ऊपर से नीचे खोजना। ये आपका personal data detective है।
इसके चार parts होते हैं — जैसे एक recipe के चार ingredients। इन्हें याद रखो: lookup value, table array, column number, और exact match।
अब सबसे बड़ी गलती जो लोग करते हैं — वो सोचते हैं VLOOKUP कहीं से भी खोज सकता है। [long pause] असल में ये हमेशा पहले column में ही खोजता है — बायीं तरफ़ से।
Step 1 — lookup value चुनो। मान लो तुम्हें 'राहुल' का mark चाहिए। ये वो value है जो तुम खोज रहे हो।
Step 2 — table array बताओ। यानी पूरा area जहाँ data है — जैसे A2 से B10 तक। यहाँ VLOOKUP को पता चलता है कि कहाँ देखना है।
Step 3 — column number दो। अगर marks दूसरे column में हैं, तो 2 लिखो। ये बताता है कि answer किस column से लेना है।
Step 4 — exact match चुनो। FALSE लिखो तो exact match होगा — यानी बिल्कुल सही answer। TRUE लिखो तो approximate — जो खतरनाक हो सकता है।
अब पूरा formula देखो: =VLOOKUP("राहुल", A2:B10, 2, FALSE)। ये एक साथ चारों steps को जोड़ता है।
जब तुम Enter दबाओगे, VLOOKUP ऊपर से नीचे जाकर 'राहुल' ढूंढता है, फिर दूसरे column से उसका mark उठा लाता है।
एक और ज़रूरी बात — VLOOKUP हमेशा दायीं तरफ़ ही देख सकता है। अगर answer बायीं तरफ़ है, तो ये काम नहीं करेगा। इसलिए data को ऐसे arrange करो।
अब recap करते हैं — चारों steps एक साथ। Lookup value, table array, column number, और exact match। यही पूरा VLOOKUP है।
